In this snippet, we focus on the Person of God and His relationship to us, His children. We must always keep in mind how our Heavenly Father truly feels about us, and what He wants us to understand about Him. He is not just some impersonal God who lives out there above the clouds somewhere who desires to judge and punish us. Although that may be how the world sees God, the truth is, He is a very personable, loving and Holy Person. He is Our Heavenly Father who He wants us to know Him personally. This is why He sent His Only Begotten Son: to redeem us, show us what He is like, and to show us just how much He loves us. Jesus told his disciples, "if you have seen me, you have seen the Father".
The truth is, He came to us before we ever went to Him. In the Book of Genesis we read how God went to the garden to commune with Adam and Eve. They did not have to beg for God to come see them, or wonder if He even existed. Quite the contrary, God took the initiative and went to them. He took pleasure in communing with Adam and Eve before they disobeyed Him. We also know from Scripture that God does not change, so He is the same Person today as he was when Adam and Eve were still around. He likes to commune with us, His children. God is personable in the sense that He is engaging.
When Jesus taught the disciples to pray, he began with these words, "Our Father, who art in Heaven..." Here the word for father is a term of endearment. You cannot get more personable than that.
